Tingling is also a type of paresthesia. A paresthesia is a burning or prickling sensation often described as pins-and-needles. Paresthesias may or may not be accompanied by pain.

Tingling fingers usually arises from a lack of blood supply to an area or damage to a nerve or nerves that supply the hand and fingers, such as carpal tunnel syndrome or a cervical disk problem. Tingling fingers can also result from infection, inflammation, trauma, and other abnormal processes. Tingling fingers is rarely due to a life-threatening disorder, but it can arise from a stroke or tumor.

You may feel temporary tingling in the fingers after holding your arm in the same position for a long period of time. This type of tingling normally fades away once you move your arm. Chronically tingling fingers can be due to diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or peripheral neuropathy. Chronic finger tingling generally indicates some level of damage to the nerves.

Tingling and numbness of the pinky and ring finger can be a sign of ulnar nerve compression in the arm. Tingling and numbness of the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger can be caused by carpal tunnel syndrome.

Because tingling fingers and tingling in general may be a symptom of a disease, condition or disorder, you should talk with your medical professional about any unusual sensations that last more than a few minutes.

If you experience tingling fingers with paralysis, confusion, weakness, or slurred speech, seek immediate medical attention in an emergency facility. If your symptoms are persistent or cause you concern, contact a medical professional as soon as possible.

In some conditions, such as cervical dystonia, the spasm may cause your head to turn or to jerk. Some, but not all, neck spasms occur close enough to the spinal cord or to the nerve roots leading in and out of the spinal cord to put pressure on one of these sensitive nerves and sometimes cause severe pain.

Neck spasms can be caused by a tic, muscle strain, or muscle tension, either from physical exertion, such as heavy lifting or a strenuous workout, or from tensing the muscles unconsciously in response to stress. You may also strain a muscle in response to pain from another condition. Neck spasms can also occur as a side effect of certain medications, including haloperidol (Haldol) and metoclopramide (Reglan).

In addition, neck spasms can be symptomatic of either an injury such as a fracture or another disorder, such as spasmodic torticollis (also known as cervical dystonia; chronic disorder that causes involuntary movements of the neck), cervical spondylosis (degenerative disc disease in the neck), herniated disc, viral infection, degenerative disc disease (caused by wear and tear and the effects of aging on the spine), spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal, creating pressure on the spinal cord or nerves), tension headache , fibromyalgia (chronic condition that causes pain, stiffness and tenderness), meningitis (infection or inflammation of the sac around the brain and spinal cord), or osteomyelitis (bone infection).

Cruciferous vegetables are named after their cross shaped flower petals. They are great for you, and provide many health benefits. With so many varieties in this family of veggies, it is easy to work them into your diet.

These vegetables contain high levels of antioxidants, which have been linked to disease prevention, including from certain cancers. Antioxidants help keep us healthy on the cellular level, which translates to overall body health. Aside from the antioxidants, they also contain a phyto-chemical called isothiocyanates, which prompt the body to break down cancer causing agents. They also contain numerous vitamins and minerals. Throw away your vitamin supplements, because they are not needed when you eat balanced and healthy meals!

Keep in mind that these are also known to cause goiters when eaten raw. This is because of a chemical in the plants that disrupts messages being sent to the thyroid. This makes it difficult for the thyroid to produce needed hormones. People who have hyperthyroid function should always steam this family of vegetables and limit their intake.

What are the most nutritious cruciferous veggies? Kale ranks pretty high on the nutrition scale, with many of your needed vitamins and minerals. It also has a high fiber to calorie ratio, meaning that you do not need to eat a whole lot of it to feel full. Broccoli comes in at a close second, providing vitamins, minerals, and anti-inflammatory benefits. Swiss chard is also very nutritious, containing more than half the vitamin C you need for the day in a single serving. It can also help regulate blood sugar levels. All cruciferous veggies are great for you! So eat them as often as you can.

Here is a list of cruciferous vegetables:

-Arugula
-Bok Choy
-Broccoli
-Brussels sprouts
-Cabbage
-Cauliflower
-Chard
-Chinese cabbage
-Collard greens
-Daikon
-Kale
-Kohlrabi
-Mustard greens
-Radishes
-Rutabagas
-Turnips
-watercress

How do we work these veggies into our diet? You are probably familiar with some of the vegetables on this list. For example, most people know how to cook and prepare broccoli. Try to maintain a healthy and simple meal plan. Incorporate fresh vegetables as side dishes to your meals. Instead of choosing processed or prepackaged foods, cook your own. When you select, prepare, and cook your own meals you are in control of what is going into your body. You will know if there are preservatives, high fructose corn syrups, and other unwanted ingredients. Cooking can be a fun and bonding experience you can share with family, friends, and loved ones. Take the extra time and effort to cook a wonderful meal complete with vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Good food does not have to be complicated. Steaming broccoli takes just minutes, and it goes well with a variety of other food.

These little organelles provide cellular energy to each cell by converting foodstuffs into energy (adenosine triphosphate, commonly known as ATP. This cellular energy called ATP is needed for every cell to do its job. Diabetic people do not produce as much ATP from carbohydrates and thus are relegated to abnormally high lipid and free fatty acid uses, including triglycerides (another form of fat).

The mitochondria of diabetic people are not deficient, they are merely not receiving the signals and enzymes necessary to allow them to properly burn carbohydrates. The Beauty of the Artificial Pancreas Treatment is that it merely supplies what every mitochondria needs in order to burn carbohydrates.

The good news is that mitochondria have their own DNA, and so once they are provided the necessary signals and enzymes, they can provide cellular energy to their host cell. Then, when the cells have the energy they need from carbohydrates they quickly begin to heal themselves by their own very natural processes. This is the beauty of the Artificial Pancreas Treatment, it merely mimics what a normal pancreas does by way of stimulating the liver!

This is also why there has never been any injury or adverse reaction to the Artificial Pancreas Treatment.

Here are three stretches that will relieve your cramps and will make you feel better.

1. The Butterfly Stretch

This stretch is useful when the pain is coming from the thighs. It can also reduce the pain caused by lower back cramps. To make the Butterfly Stretch, you need to sit on the floor and place your legs in front of you in the form of a slight V. Then you should bring your feet as close as possible to your body or to cross the feet over one another. Next, bend forward as you keep your back straight. In case you feel any pain in the back or legs, take a position that is not so extreme.

2. The Wall Stretch

The Wall Stretch helps for treatment of cramps that come from the tights but it can reduce pain that comes from the stomach, womb or lower back. You need to lie on your back near a wall and scoot until your touch the wall with your butt. Then you should hold your legs in the air as they are parallel to the wall. Next, separate the legs in a V shape and let them rest on the low as low as comfortable for you.

3. The Stomach Stretch

This stretch helps eliminate cramps that emanate from both thigh and lower back, and can help diminish the pain from the stomach / womb

The stretch is beneficial in cases of cramps that come from the thighs and the lower back. They also relieve pain from the stomach or womb. To make the Stomach Stretch, you should lie on your stomach and stretch your legs behind you. The upper body should be propped on your forearms. Try bringing your feet as close to your body as possible while your knees touch the floor.

Let’s start with a drink. It is

THE GREEN TEA

Green tea is a very popular drink. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells!

Let’s continue with a vegatable. It is

THE GARLIC

Some people think that it’s effective and it’s a kind of a magic plant. There are some statistical studies indicated that cancer occurs the least in those communities where garlic and onions are eaten regularly. Garlic contains:

Carbohydrates 33.06 g

- Sugars 1.00g

- Dietary fiber 2.1 g

Fat 0.5 g

Protein 6.39 g

- beta-carotene 5 ¦Ìg (0%)

Thiamine (vit. B1) 0.2 mg (17%)

Riboflavin (vit. B2) 0.11 mg (9%)

Niacin (vit. B3) 0.7 mg (5%)

Pantothenic acid (B5) 0.596 mg (12%)

Vitamin B6 1.235 mg (95%)

Folate (vit. B9) 3 ¦Ìg (1%)

Vitamin C 31.2 mg (38%)

Calcium 181 mg (18%)

Iron 1.7 mg (13%)

Magnesium 25 mg (7%)

Phosphorus 153 mg (22%)

Potassium 401 mg (9%)

Sodium 17 mg (1%)

Zinc 1.16 mg (12%)

Manganese 1.672 mg

Selenium 14.2 ¦Ìg

http://newshealth.net/garlic-helps-against-painful-osteoarthritis/

As you can see almost all these are very useful for your health.

The next vegatable is:

THE ONION

As we mentioned above – there are some statistical studies indicated that cancer occurs the least in those communities where garlic and onions are eaten regularly.

How about some fruit? The one I would like to suggest is:

THE APPLE

You probably know the famous proverb “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

Image an apple, with skin (edible parts). Its nutritional value per 100 g (3.5 oz) is:

Energy 218 kJ (52 kcal)

Carbohydrates 13.81 g

- Sugars 10.39 g

- Dietary fiber 2.4 g

Fat 0.17 g

Protein 0.26 g

Water 85.56 g

Vitamin A equiv. 3 ¦Ìg (0%)

Thiamine (vit. B1) 0.017 mg (1%)

Riboflavin (vit. B2) 0.026 mg (2%)

Niacin (vit. B3) 0.091 mg (1%)

Pantothenic acid (B5) 0.061 mg (1%)

Vitamin B6 0.041 mg (3%)

Folate (vit. B9) 3 ¦Ìg (1%)

Vitamin C 4.6 mg (6%)

Calcium 6 mg (1%)

Iron 0.12 mg (1%)

Magnesium 5 mg (1%)

Phosphorus 11 mg (2%)

Potassium 107 mg (2%)

Zinc 0.04 mg (0%)

http://newshealth.net/health-benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar/

Of course food is not everything. The good, healthy food have to be combined with good rest, good sport and positive life.

Of course pregnancy is not the only reason a woman would miss her period, but it is the most common one, and therefore a pregnancy test is warranted in order to confirm a diagnosis. These days pregnancy tests are much more sensitive than they used to be, and therefore able to pick up a positive reading even several days before you have actually missed your period. A pregnancy blood test, however, is the most accurate method of confirming a pregnancy and can be done even earlier than a urine test. You may initially experience scant bleeding that is mistaken for a period. This bleeding is normal; it is not actually a period but is the implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine wall. So although these are signs of pregnancy and symptoms it is best to get this checked out.

Nausea with or without vomiting is one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy, and also one of the most unpleasant. Some women struggle with this symptom for their entire pregnancy while others are only mildly affected during the first couple of weeks. Nausea most often occurs during the first few weeks of pregnancy as the body adjusts to the physical and hormonal changes taking place

Fatigue is another symptom that generally occurs during the first and third trimesters of pregnancy. Certain activities you had no difficulty performing prior to getting pregnant may now be too tiresome to accomplish. Listen to your body. The laundry will eventually get done. The dust bunnies under the bed can wait to be vacuumed. The first trimester is a critical time in the gestational period. Rest when you can rest. Sleep when you can sleep. Taking care of yourself will not only benefit you, but also that precious little one growing inside of you.

Heartburn during pregnancy is common during the first and last trimesters. Tums is safe to take during pregnancy and is effective in treating this uncomfortable symptom. Avoiding fried and spicy foods will go a long way to help you avoid experiencing painful bouts of heartburn. If Tums does not alleviate your symptoms of heartburn, contact your doctor as you may require a stronger acid reducer.
Pregnancy and Symptoms – The Later Stages

As your little one begins to grow so too will your belly. As your belly grows larger, your back will begin to compensate for the extra weight in the front, resulting in aches and pains. While it is inevitable that you will gain weight during your pregnancy, try to maintain a healthy weight in order to minimize middle and lower back pain.

Stretch marks are a common occurrence during pregnancy and generally develop during the end of the second and third trimesters. While stretch marks have been given a bad rap, try to consider them as the badges of honor we earn while our bodies expand to accommodate our growing babies. Stretch marks are nothing to be ashamed of; in fact, they are glorious reminders of the privileges of some of your pregnancy and symptoms.

First, your doctor will most likely perform a physical exam and draw blood to rule out other conditions, such as pregnancy and thyroid disease. He or she may also order a test to measure your estradiol levels. Low levels of estradiol, a form of estrogen, can indicate that your ovaries are starting to fail. When estradiol levels are below 36, it may signal that you are in menopause.

However, the most important test used to diagnose premature menopause is a blood test that measures follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). FSH causes your ovaries to produce estrogen. When your ovaries slow down their production of estrogen, your levels of FSH increase. When your FSH levels rise above 30 or 40 mIU/mL, it usually indicates that you are in menopause.

What Types of Health Issues Affect Women Undergoing Premature Menopause?

Like all menopausal women, women in premature menopause experience lowered estrogen levels as the ovaries stop most of their production of this hormone. Low levels of estrogen can lead to changes in a woman’s overall health and may increase her risk for certain medical conditions, such as osteoporosis. Other health risks associated with the loss of estrogen include increased risk for colon and ovarian cancer, periodontal (gum) disease and tooth loss and cataract formation.

However, compared with women who go through natural menopause, women undergoing premature menopause spend a greater portion of their lives without the protective benefits of their own estrogen. This puts them at an even greater risk for the above mentioned menopause-related health problems.

How Is Premature Menopause Treated?

The symptoms and health risks of premature menopause as well as the emotional issues that may result from it can be managed with the methods similar to those used for natural menopause. Women dealing with infertility that is brought on by premature menopause may want to discuss their options with their doctor or with a reproductive specialist.

Can Premature Menopause Be Reversed?

No. Premature menopause is the result of an underlying process. Once the process has started, it’s unlikely to be reversed.

Healthy eating means eating a variety of foods so that your child gets the nutrients (such as protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, and minerals) he or she needs for normal growth. If your child regularly eats a wide variety of basic foods, he or she will be well-nourished.

How much food is good for my child?

From birth until about 2 or 3 years old, children have an “internal hunger gauge” that signals how much food they need at a given time. Babies cry to let us know they’re hungry. When they’re full, they stop eating. Children continue this pattern as they grow—they eat as much or as little as their bodies need. But after the age of 2 or 3, this internal hunger gauge is also affected by other things. It is important to get your child to pay attention to the natural signs of hunger from his or her body.

It may worry you to see your child eat very little at a meal. Children tend to eat the same number of calories every day if they are allowed to eat in response to their internal hunger gauge. The pattern of calorie intake is different from day to day. One day a child may eat a big breakfast, a big lunch, and hardly any dinner. The next day this same child may eat very little at breakfast but may eat a lot at lunch and dinner. Don’t expect your child to eat the same amount of food at every meal and snack each day.

How can I help my child eat well and be healthy?

Many parents worry that their child is either eating too much or too little. Perhaps your child only wants to eat one type of food—peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, for instance. One way to help your child eat well and help you worry less is to know what your job is and what your child’s job is when it comes to eating. Some food experts call this the division of responsibility.1 If your child only wants to eat one type of food, he or she is doing the parent’s job of deciding what food choices are. In the division of responsibility, it is the parent’s job to decide what foods are offered.

The division of responsibility is outlined below:

Your job is to offer nutritious food choices at meals and snack times. You decide the what, where, and when of eating.

Your child’s job is to choose how much he or she will eat of the foods you serve. Your child decides how much or even whether to eat.

If this idea is new to you, it may take a little time for both you and your child to adjust. In time, your child will learn that he or she will be allowed to eat as little or as much as he or she wants at each meal and snack. This will encourage your child to continue to trust his or her internal hunger gauge.

You can help support your child’s healthy eating habits and physical activity level by:

Eating together as a family as often as possible. Keep family meals pleasant and positive. Avoid making comments about the amount or type of food your child eats. Pressure to eat actually reduces children’s acceptance of new or different foods.

Making healthy food choices for your family’s meals. Children notice the choices you make and follow your example.

Setting limits on your child’s daily television and computer time. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a limit of 1 to 2 hours of screen time a day.2 Sit down with your child and plan out how he or she will use this time allowance.

Making physical activity a part of your family’s daily life. Some ways to do this include walking your child to and from school, and teaching your child how to skip, hop, dance, play catch, jump rope, and ride a bike.

Taking a walk after dinner.

Taking your child to all recommended well-child checkups. You can use this time to discuss your child’s growth rate, activity level, and eating habits with a doctor.

What causes poor eating habits?

Poor eating habits can develop in otherwise healthy children for several reasons. Infants are born liking sweet tastes. But if babies are going to learn to eat a wide variety of basic foods, they need to learn to like other tastes, because many nutritious foods don’t taste sweet.

Available food choices. If candy and soft drinks are always available, most children will choose these foods rather than a more nutritious snack. But forbidding these choices can make your child want them even more. You can include some less-nutritious foods as part of your child’s meals so that he or she learns to enjoy them along with other foods. Although in the division of responsibility it is your child’s job to decide how much of a food he or she will eat at a meal, it is okay to limit dessert to one serving. It is your responsibility as a parent to decide what foods are offered as well as when and where meals and snacks are offered. Try to keep a variety of nutritious and appealing food choices available. Healthy and kid-friendly snack ideas include:

String cheese.

Whole wheat crackers and peanut butter.

Air-popped or low-fat microwave popcorn.

Frozen juice bars made with 100% real fruit.

Fruit and dried fruit.

Baby carrots with hummus or bean dip.

Low-fat yogurt with fresh fruit.

The need for personal choice. Power struggles between a parent and child can affect eating behavior. If children are pressured to eat a certain food, they are more likely to refuse to eat that food, even if it is something they usually would enjoy. Remember, your responsibility is to provide a variety of nutritious foods. Your child’s job is to decide what and how much he or she will eat from the choices you offer.

Emotion. A child’s sadness, anxiety, or family crisis can cause undereating or overeating. If you think your child’s emotions are affecting his or her eating, focus on resolving the problem that is causing the emotions instead of focusing on the eating behavior.

If your child is healthy and eating a nutritious and varied diet, yet eats very little, he or she may simply need less food energy (calories) than other children. Similarly, some children need more daily calories than others the same age or size, and they eat more than you might expect. Every child has different calorie needs.

In rare cases, a child may eat more or less than usual because of a medical condition that affects his or her appetite. If your child has a medical condition that affects how he or she eats, talk with your child’s doctor about how you can help your child get the right amount of nutrition.

What are the risks of eating poorly?

A child with poor eating habits is going to be poorly nourished. That is, he or she won’t be getting the amounts of nutrients needed for healthy growth and development. This can lead to being underweight or overweight. Poorly nourished children tend to have weaker immune systems, which increases their chances of illness. Poor eating habits can increase a child’s risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes later in life.

Poor eating habits include:

Eating a very limited variety of foods.

Refusing to eat entire groups of foods such as vegetables.

Eating too many foods of poor nutritional quality such as soft drinks, chips, and doughnuts.

Overeating due to being served large portions or due to a parent saying “clean your plate” or “finish it all up.”
